Back to home page! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- About our pearls---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Where are they from? Although several areas of the world are home to pearl-producing mussels, including China (Yangtze River Delta region), Japan (Biwa pearls and Lake Kasumigaura pearls), as well the United States (Mississippi River Basin), the global freshwater market is overwhelmingly dominated by Chinese pearl farms, which account for nearly all of the freshwater pearls sold today. Our pearls are directly from the Yangtze River Delta region farms, which allow us to provide you the highest quality pearls at the best price.----------------------------------- 2. How to tell the quality of a pearl? While pearls do not have a universal grading system like diamonds, there are some characteristics that do tell the quality of pearls: size, roundness, luster, surface condition, color, matching and rarity. Obviously, a larger, rounder, high luster, flawless, naturally rare-colored, more uniform and aesthetically pleasing pearl is considered higher quality and more valuable. No pearls are perfect and small blemishes can be sacrificed for more important quality like size and roundness. It takes a lot of experience and comparison to tell the difference between two pearls that look identical but differ substantially in real quality. We only provide high-end pearls and our prices are very competitive in the market.--------------- 3. How to tell if a pearl is real? A simple test: gently rub the pearls together or rub a pearl lightly across your upper front teeth. Real Pearls will feel gritty or sandy, while fake pearls will feel smooth. We guarantee that all our pearls are genuine fresh-water pearls.------------------------ 4. Pearl sizes Cultured pearls are measured in millimeters (mm). One millimeter (mm) is approximately .04 of an inch. Common pearl size includes: 5mm to 6mm ( 1/5 of one inch), 6mm to 7mm (1/4 of one inch), 7mm to 8mm (1/3 of one inch), 9mm to 10mm (2/5 of one inch), 12mm to 13mm ( 1/2 of one inch). Cultured fresh water pearls rarely grow to more than 12mm.------------- 5. Pearl care Celebrate the beauty of your pearls by wearing them often. Put your pearls on last, after applying hair spray, cosmetics, or perfumes. Remove your pearls before washing dishes, exercising or showering. Clean your pearls with a warm damp cloth, or occasionally use a mild diluted liquid soap but never use vinegar, lemon juice, ammonia or chlorine products. Store your pearls in a soft pouch so they are not in continuous contact with gold or sharp gems.
